When people explore new lands, they often climb to a high spot in order to get a glimpse of journey ahead. It helps them see a best path, dangers and their destination.
The hope of this study card is to allow followers of Christ to join with another follower and journey to a high place where they can see just a glimpse of the overall plan of God and the life Christ is calling us to. We suggest doing the study over a month with 1-3 other people and meeting up once a week to discuss findings, questions and share encouragements. The study is broken into 4 sections which each contain 5 teachings. Each person will need a Bible. We suggest the ESV or NIV versions. Each person studies one teaching line per day by prayerfully asking God to teach them as they look up the verses. After looking up the verses and making observations, time should be taken to pray about the things read in those passages and how that affects the life of the reader. It is recommended that the reader keep a small note book to write down new, striking, confusing or exciting from their reading. This will help the reader remember and allow for richer discussions with the study partners. The glimpse card study is designed to be a simple start to following Christ. No one will accomplish a journey if they stay at the high spot. Likewise, this study will only be beneficial if it helps chart the course for the follower of Christ embark on the life of being a worshipper who is part of a spiritual family of missionaries. The study moves from the Gospel to our Identity in Christ, then to the promises of God and onward to His life-giving leadership for our lives. We hope this study gives you a healthy and starting glimpse of the life of joy that Christ has promised to all who follow Him. |
